LEARNINGS AND TAKEAWAYS

  • Prototyping and user testing: During my time in Critical Mass, I created several prototypes using Axure for projects to Citibank and AT&T. A third company managed the usability testing. I shared my questions, and they performed the user test. I'll attend remotely to hear the user's feedback, and I consolidated the findings to the internal team within my company so that I created a design proposal based on users' feedback.
  • Design systems for big projects. Usually, a big company will create a design language system. Every time I designed something, I  consulted the design library and took elements from them. Time to time, I had a new design pattern, then I collaborated with the design library team to make sure I followed the companies and design guidelines.
  • Make the best of it. In a waterfall approach, sometimes it was hard to know when a feature is going to be finally implemented. My moto was, "Design the best patterns." I usually will hand over the UX design documentation and then I wouldn't have any contact with the developers. I'll apply the UX patterns and guidelines and have fun in the process. Always learning from teammates on how to improve the UX inside the company and in projects.
